Toy Soldiers

Inspired by a post on social media of a father and daughter really enjoying a 1745 rebellion game played with printed plexiglass 'flats', we thought ' Kids, Fun, Redcoats - just the thing we need at our events, but how to sell the idea to the manufacturers?

We have the muster rolls for the 43rd regiment - we chose 1775 and got the names of our company and then contacted the figure makers and asked them to recreate Carys' company with the name of each soldier (these will be on a display board).  Kids (big and small) will be able to arrange them for a Roll Call parade.   Perhaps they will then borrow one of our spare hats and imagine themselves as James Peddie or William Buck.  We have plans to add tents, the bell of arms and camp colours.

We are delighted that the manufacturers (Wofun) agreed to do it and we have the first draft figures shown here.  At the moment the figures have the later cross belt for the bayonet, so we've asked them to correct them with waistbelts.

You can see in the pictures the two sergeants wearing their sashes and showing off their swords. The captain lieutenant in his gold trimmed hat, the company drummer and as a regimental extras - the two colours, sporting our number XLIII in the centre!

We plan to have these slightly away from our period display on a modern camp table with information/leaflets and a picture of a military camp, that can be recreated with the plastic soldiers and tents.
